Q. Why should i test my ECU.

A. In many cases, general car symptoms which can generally point to the ECU, may be incorrect. So by having the unit  tested you can be sure it is the ECU before replacing it.

Q. I know its my ECU at fault is it repairable ?

A. Ecu's fail for a variety of reasons. Water ingression, exposure to heat and corrosion being just a few of the failings of such units.  It is important to have it tested before any repair to pinpoint the exact location of the ECU fault and make a decision on the repairability on the actual unit.

Q. What does an ECU test consist of ?

A. A test involves putting your ECU onto a test rig simulator.  By testing its inputs and outputs over a period of about 1 hour on specialised equipment, we can pinpoint the fault if the case or indeed declare the unit fully functioning and advise what the cause maybe.

Q. So what are the costs involved ?

A. We charge a set £60 test fee, which includes return postage.  On average, our repair fee is £150 to £200 pounds depending on the amount of time and work needed to repair the unit. You will not get charged for both so if you repair is completed successfully the test fee is waived.  WE NEVER take it upon ourselves to complete a repair.  After a unit test we always give a customers a ring to advise of the work needed and costings if the case.

 Q. So how do I order a test ?

A. Its easy.  After speaking to Ecu-Express please follow the steps below.

2) Please enclose the test fee of £60 by either Cheque/PO ( to ECU-EXPRESS or cash by recorded post only. Unfortunately we will be unable to proceed without the inital test fee. Upon repair completion only the remaining amount shall be payable.

4) Most important, please write down the car symptoms, misfiring etc what it is doing now, when did it start, any information which you feel may help us find out the likely fault on the unit.
